Project Runway: Teams Episode 07 on :iconcatwalkchallenge:

This week: A prom dress made of duck tape! Oh, I really had fun doing this (maybe because my bamboo is finally working again!)

For the top I used this white tape and this pink pastel tape and arranged them as little stripes. It is an one-shoulder dress with a little detail in the back (the lines coming from the shoulder are diagonal), I do not want the dress to slip down as it is pretty heavy compared to dresses made of real fabric. The skirt part is made of this black tape and the ruffles are made of this neon pink tape. I decided on doing an asymmetric skirt because I wanted the dress to be flowing without being too tight. The ruffels are not too big and not heavy so they do not hang down. At the taille the fabric is pleated and stitched down to emphasize the taille.
The dress is elegant without being boring, teenagers would love to wear this because it is eye-catching and unique. And the chaperones would not mind the girls wearing the dress because it is not too short and not too sexy.
I chose the Geezlouise Sandals because the heel is not that high and with the straps you do not have to worry about slipping out of the shoe and so you can easily dance in this shoes.
The dress comes with the Pleated Satin Clutch in Silver. I wanted the purse to have the same color as the shoes and to have a strap so you can easily carry it around without having to keep it in your hand the whole time.

Critique time!! I didn't judge this episode, but here's my input anyways.

For starters, I think you definitely were more successful with this challenge than the actual Project Runway competitors. This is definitely a "fashion-forward" gown that is actually appropriate for social events. I'm not sure if you went to prom or not, but at my prom, *everyone* wore these long beautiful gowns. Still, I could definitely see this gown maybe at homecoming or something.

I can definitely see how you thought this out, and I can immediately tell that this dress is yours because your personal style definitely shines through.

This design is definitely a solid idea, and I feel like as a "first draft" it's awesome, and you could really elaborate more on it to make it truly spectacular!

Good luck with the rest of the challenges, and I look forward to see what other designs you put out!
