Project Runway: Teams Episode 10 on :iconcatwalkchallenge:

This time we had to do two outfits, one Haute Couture look and a complimenting marketable look, both of them using a self-made fabric inspired by a picture in the Guggenheim museum in New York.
I took this picture (it is actually a video) and made
this fabric. The dog paws on it are pretty big, but it is a close up of the fabric, in my outfits they are much smaller and at the first look you do not recognize them as dog paws.

Haute Couture:
The base dress is a black bodice with my fabric used at the top. This bodice is covered with sheer petticoat skirt and at the hemline of this skirt there are ruffels, made of my fabric. From the end of this skirt to the neck there are wires going up, first to keep the skirt in form and second to make the dress more interesting. At the neck the wires form a necklace from which the wires channel off and form kind of a wrath around her head.

Marketable Look:
It is a sheath dress using three different fabrics with white ruffles around the neck. The upper part of the dress uses my self-made fabric, the lower part is made of simple black fabric. In the middle there is a strip of dark grey fabric running down the dress. This fabic is below the other fabrics and it is sewn loosely so that the light fabric falls in folds. The clear lines of this dress represent the Haute Couture dress.

Shoes:
Haute Couture: Dyvinal Pumps with Rhinestone Accents in Pewter Multi
Marketable Look: Tonell Embellished Platform Pumps in Black

Critique time!!

I think you really succeeded in these looks.

The haute couture is just that; it's haute couture!! Love the use of wires, especially the treatment at the neck. I personally don't like the double layering of the skirt, would rather just one large skirt portion. I love the ruffles, and would have liked to see them incorporated onto the skirt somehow as well, instead of the traditionally cop-out using ruffles at the base of the skirt. Anyways, this look is phenomenal, and can definitely be exceptional if small details were re-thought a bit (they don't really take away from the overall look, per se, just that they could make the overall look better)

I love the marketable look as well. The lines of the dress is amazing, though I question the fact that the light fabric is underneath the rest (I think a basic shift dress with those lines would be equally amazing); the little ruffle at the collar is adorable, and a nice shout out to your haute couture look.

Overall, very good job, good luck with the rest of the competition!
