Back to the 60's

Project Runway: Teams Episode 04 on :iconcatwalkchallenge:

The Ultimate Hard and Soft: We were to combine flowers and hardware in a look that would either fit into a decade (like 50's/60's/... - Team Keeping it Real) or be inspired by 1950's Dior (The Dream Team). I am in Team Keeping it Real and after some really bad tries to do a good outfit (at first I wanted to go into the future but then I decided on doing the 60's...I started with this dress on wednesday) I came up with this:

A knee-long dress, pretty modern for the 60's, but with some specific elements like the straps I saw in some pictures on Google Images. The upper part of the dress might look a bit asymmetric, but this is not supposed to be so, just to have it said. I used this dress (Number 3) as a reference for the skirt piece. The base is covered with lots of flowers (roses, to be specific) in white and blue, arranged in stripes, as the 60's were popular for geometrical patterns and color contrasts. The green piece at the waist, made of green ribbon, represents green grasses (like this one) and brings more colors into the dress.
Attached onto the black base dress and straps are the hardware elements: silver washers and silver screws, which shimmer in a blue tone (not on the straps).
The outfit goes with the Furla Gemini Shopper in Ocean and Marble and the Franco Sarto Heart Suede Slingback Pumps in Green. The hairdo is typically for the 60's, a lot of volume at the occiput.

Critique time!!

First and foremost, I think you did a wonderful job, I especially like the color blocking that you did. I also lovve how you used both flowers and hardware. Though there's something not-so-sixties about this dress, even though you based it off on a 60s dress. I think it might be because you combined 2 different elements of the 60s onto one dress which doesn't quite work (for me personally), though I think overall you did a stellar job!
